Lemarchand & Lemoine

Lemarchand et Lemoine

Cabinetmakers

This is the signature of Louis-Edouard Lemarchand (1795-1872) and André-Gabriel Lemoine, two of the most important Parisian cabinetmakers of the second third of the 19th century. From 1846 to 1852, the firm gained renown at the exhibitions and received many important commissions from the Imperial Garde-meuble. Today, the Musée d’Orsay possesses a table with elaborate marquetry, that bears the Lemarchand et Lemoine stencil (see D. Ledoux-Lebard, Le mobilier français du XIXe siècle, dictionnaire des ébénistes et menuisiers, Les Editions de l’Amateur, Paris, 2000, p. 421).
